RULES FOR THE RESIDENT STUDENTS

GENERAL RULES
  • Admission shall be sought afresh at the beginning of every academic session.
  • The hostels (including messes/canteens and common rooms) shall remain closed during the summer vacation for a period as specified by the College authorities.
  • The residents will vacate the hostel rooms within 3 days of termination of their examination. In case the room is still not vacated, it will be locked by the hostel authorities till the possession of the room is handed over/taken over and a minimum fine of Rs. 1000/- shall be imposed in addition to payment of daily charges for a stay without permission from the Warden.
  • All the students staying in the hostels will be given shared accommodation only.
  • All residents are required to maintain standards of behavior expected of students of a prestigious institution such as ours. They are expected to behave courteously and fairly with everyone whether they are inside or outside the campus.
  • All residents are required to carry their valid Hostel Identity pass issued to them by the Institute.
  • Students shall not indulge in any political or communal activity which is detrimental to the law and order and/or against the Government. Students shall not carry on any propaganda or publicity of any nature whatsoever in respect of anything or any matter including political or communal matters.
  • Students shall take the prior written permission of the Rector/Campus Administrator before giving any information or interview regarding Hostel to any media (Press, Radio, and Television) or before making any speech containing any information regarding the Hostel.
  • Dress Code: The students should be decently dressed when they are out of rooms.
  • The student shall not bring any extra furniture or other fixture in the room. All furniture and fixture in the rooms allotted to students must take care of the property. Students will be required to pay double the original cost of any item found missing from their room.
  • Students shall keep their room, verandah, and surrounding areas tidy, neat, and clean at all times and shall not throw anything including garbage, in such places or any premises in the hostel except in the dustbin or the place specifically provided for the said purpose. No wet clothes should be dried on the furniture or in corridors/ balconies. The Rector has the right to confiscate any such clothes hung for drying in the balconies.
  • No students shall store any cooked food in the room.
  • If an outsider is found illegally living in the room of a resident, the resident shall be liable to (a) expulsion from the hostel; (b) forfeiture of securities; (c) a fine of a minimum of Rs. 1000/-; (d) daily charges from the date of illegal occupation of the room to be determined by the Warden.
  • AS PER SUPREME COURT RULING SMOKING AT PUBLIC PLACES IS A PUNISHABLE OFFENCE. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the hostels including Mess Canteen Areas. Defaulters will be fined Rs.500/- per offense.
  • Acts of indiscipline, misbehavior, gambling, and use of intoxicants in the hostel premises including rooms shall be severely dealt with. A resident guilty of any of these shall be liable to expulsion or a minimum fine of Rs. 500/- or both.
  • Any resident found in possession of any weapon shall be liable to a minimum fine of Rs. 2000/- and/or expulsion and the matter shall be reported to the Police.
  • Any student opening a room by breaking the hostel lock or seal or window-panes etc. Shall be liable to a minimum fine of Rs. 500/-. In case this kind of conduct is repeated, students will be liable for expulsion from the hostel.
VISITORS AND GUESTS
  • Male & Female visitors shall not visit each other residents. They can visit them, if needed to be, in the Garden/Out of Hostel up to 8 p.m.
  • A register will be maintained at the reception of each hostel/Guardroom to regulate outsiders’ entry.
  • As a rule, guests are not permitted to stay overnight in any hostel. However. No Guest is allowed to stay in a Hostel without the prior permission of the Warden.
ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE
  • General
    • Gates of Boys hostel will be closed at 09.30 p.m. and opened at 6.00 a.m. The resident will wait (if the gate is closed) for the Security guard to come back from his round of the building.
    • All residents entering the hostel after 09.30 p.m. are to make due entries in the register maintained (for late arrivals) with the Security guard of the hostel.
    • A resident shall, under all circumstances, inform the Warden about his/her absence from the hostel. He/she shall sign the register/ application maintained for this purpose.
    • Any student found absent from the hostel for more than two weeks without prior written permission from the Warden is liable to be punished. His/her hostel admission shall be canceled along with a minimum fine of Rs. 1000/-.
  • For Girls’ Hostels
    • Boarders in girls’ hostels shall present themselves for daily assembly at 6.30 p.m.
    • The hostel gate will be closed at 8:30 PM and shall be opened at 6.00 a.m. After that, LATE ENTRIES, if any, will be made in the register maintained for the purpose.
    • 6 Late entries allowed in a month up to 8.00 p.m.
    • Beyond 6 up to maximum 10 late entries: Rs. 200/- per late entry up to 8.00 p.m.
    • Late entry between 8.00 p.m. to 09.00 p.m.: Rs. 250/- per entry

(After 09.00 p.m. entry will be allowed with the prior written permission of the Warden concerned/DSW).

  • Residents must enter a valid contact number and address in the home going register before proceeding on leave failing which a fine will be charged.
  • Any resident, who is present in the room but does not come for assembly, will be fined Rs. 50/ – for each default.
