General Guidelines
Discipline is a pre-requisite for the development of any institution. No example of continuous progress without complete disciplinary spirit can be found anywhere. Keeping this in view the students of Ravindranth Tagore Group Of Colleges are, therefore, expected to maintain a code of conduct as per the mentioned laws and orinances.
GENERAL INFORMATION
- Every student is issued an identity card by the college immediately after admissions which he/she is expected to carry while in college at all times. Entry to the college shall in no circumstances be allowed without the identity card. Loss of identity card has to be intimated to the college with a copy of FIR (first information report) lodged with the police. A duplicate identity card shall then be issued after payment of both the fee and fine.
- It is expected that the students do not indulge in boisterous behavior in the classrooms and corridors. They are required to maintain perfect silence in the areas marked as “SILENCE ZONE”
- Smoking in the college premises is strictly prohibited
- The students are required to switch off their mobile phones in classrooms, laboratories, and corridors.
- Any college event and/or get-together may not be held without prior approval of the Principal.
- College parties such as the Fresher and Farewell party may not be arranged at venues outside the college.
- No club or society can be formed without the prior approval of the Principal.
Parking rules
- Student cars are strictly not allowed within the college premises.
- Students are allowed to park the two-wheelers at a specific area marked for students ‘vehicles’.
- Haphazard parking shall invite a penalty.
Rules for using sports facility
- Sports activities should be restricted only to the playgrounds and care should be taken not to damage the adjoining building or disturb ongoing classes.
- Sports equipment or kits may be issued against identity cards.
College Complaints Committee
As per the ordinance of the University based on the policy against Sexual Harassment a College Complaints Committee (CCC) has been set up to maintain and create an academic and work environment free of sexual harassment for students, teaching, and nonteaching staff. Any complaints of sexual harassment will be addressed by this Committee.

Students should inform the office immediately, in writing under signature of the parent/guardian, in case of change in residential address and phone numbers. The college will not be responsible for any papers that reach the wrong address in case of non-intimation.
Individual or organizational misconduct which is subject to disciplinary sanctions shall also include but not be limited to the following examples:
GENERAL CONDUCT
- Any conduct which constitutes a serious danger to any person’s health, safety, or personal well-being, including any physical abuse or immediate threat of abuse;
- Any individual or group behavior that is abusive, obscene, lewd, indecent, violent, excessively noisy, disorderly, or which unreasonably disturbs other groups or individuals;
- Any intentional interference with or obstruction of any college activity, program, event, or facilities;
- Misuse of or damage to college property including library materials;
- Any forgery, alteration or misuse of documents or identity cards including the giving of any false information or withholding necessary information in connection with a student’s admission or enrollment status in the college or at the time of obtaining financial beneficial schemes, scholarships, etc;
- Any possession of or use of firearms or dangerous weapons of any kind, explosives, fireworks, and flammable materials;
- The use, possession, distribution, or sale of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and drugs;
- Gambling in any form, even by playing cards;
- Littering campus grounds and illegal dumping or disposal of waste on campus property.
- Shifting the class furniture without approval.
Punishments for students found guilty of Indiscipline/Ragging as per university Ordinance
Violation of any section of these regulations may subject a student to any of the following disciplinary measures by the college.
- Any student /s be expelled; or
- Any student /s be, for a stated period, rusticated; or
- Be not for a stated period, allowed to attend classes to the course of study
- Be fined with a sum of rupees that may be specified; or
- Be debarred from taking a University/College Examination/s for one or more years; or
- The result of the student in the Examination or examinations which he/she or they have appeared be canceled. In case any students who have obtained degrees from Delhi University are found guilty under this ordinance, appropriate action under statute 15 for withdrawal of degrees conferred by the University may be initiated.
- For the purpose of this ordinance, abetment to ragging whether by way of any act, practice, or incitement of ragging will also amount to ragging.
Punishment as per College rules
- Be suspended for a period of one week or more and his/her photograph and identity details will be pasted within campus on display boards.
- Fined a sum of Rs.500/- at the first instance of violation of discipline, Rs.5000/- on the second instance and thereafter he/she may be dealt with under University Ordinance
- Deputed for a stated period of time in the Library, office, garden, Laboratories, and Principal’s office, to look after security, trash collection, and sanitation work within the campus to do community service.
- Students against whom any disciplinary action is taken will not be eligible for any fellowships/scholarships/awards/grants under the student-aid fund and to contest student council elections, and participate in sports and cultural events.
CLASSROOM MISCONDUCT
- The teacher has the primary responsibility for control over classroom behavior and the maintenance of academic integrity and can order the temporary removal or exclusion from the classroom of any student engaged in disruptive conduct or conduct violative of the general rules and regulations of the institute. Extended or permanent exclusion can be effected through appropriate procedures of the college.
- Plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty are prohibited.
Attendence Requirements
- No candidate shall be eligible to appear the university examinations unless he/she fulfills the minimum attendance requirements. It is, therefore, in the interest of the students to follow attendance rules strictly and attend all classes, tutorials, and practicals if they don’t want to be denied admission tickets(University Roll no. for the final examination)
- Applications for leave on medical grounds, countersigned by a parent /guardian and duly supported by a medical certificate, must be submitted within two weeks of returning to College; thereafter such applications shall not be accepted.Attendance record is taken into account as a parameter for awarding scholarships and prizes.The rules for minimum attendance requirements are as follows.
- In case of science subjects, each student is required to attend at least 2/3 of total lectures delivered and 75% of total practical sessions held during the entire academic year.
- In case of Honours subjects, the requisite attendance of 2/3 of total lectures delivered shall be required in the main subjects as well as in each of the Subsidiary / Qualifying subjects taken separately
- In case of B. Sc Programme, 2/3 of lectures shall be required in each of the three science subjects as well as in each of the Qualifying subjects.
- Attendance records will be put-up on the notice boards after each term. NO STUDENT will be issued the University admission tickets in case he/she is short of attendance.
